1/5/2024 0 Comments Ammoload 9mm brass![]() It's made in Turkey and the splitting appears to be specific to the Ammoload and IMT brass brands. It would appear to be an obvious weak spot in the manufacture of it. I always buy their "new" ammo not the reman. I figure 1 in a thousand for range ammo is not bad, but the last 1000 rounds I got were 124 and I had over a dozen failures. The 115gr does it less than the 124 and I'm wary to even try the 147 gr. It happens in all my 1911s and is getting very irritating. Sent 2 emails to Freedom Munitions and have not yet heard back from them. Tested today and it's working fine, but had several more failures of the same nature. Barrel survived intact, but had to polish it just a bit. It bent a dental pick and several other tools I had trying to get it out. Most can be removed by pushing a nylon or brass brush down the barrel, but I had to drill one out the other day. It leaves the top half of the cartridge in the chamber while ejecting the base. The cartridges split right at the internal ledge where the thickness goes thin. Mainly in 124gr loads but a bit in 115gr as well. Sorry for the poor quality of the image below, but I just checked the website at and the website still illustrates the steel AMMOLOAD headstamps in both 9mm and 40S&W.I've been having particular issues with those cases. The normal headstamp of this company is MECA. It is interesting that an earlier headstamp used by Freedom Munitions (AMMOLOAD) also shows up on the website of the Anatolia Cartridges Co Ltd, on brass washed steel cases. I suspect that they are early headstamps, or even development cases that found there way to a reloader. As you can see in the blowup of the headstamps, there is no indication of the type symbols on the headstamps. The cases were likely reloaded since they included both brass and nickel primers. These were from a reloader out west who found the following fired cases at a range, only one of which had the symbol. Recently another Freedom Munitions headstamp showed up with just the IMT but without the type symbols. I have a box of ammo by LAX with the headstamp. The brass with both AmmoLoad and has reportedly been sold to other companies who have loaded and sold it. There is now a new code being used, FM for Freedom Munitions. There are also cases marked AmmoLoad which were sold by Freedom Ammo before the IMT cases. Before the new name was registered, but after brass with the IMT code was produced, they decided to change the name to Howell Munitions and Technology. ![]() Originally the company over all of these was to be named International Munitions and Technology and this is where the IMT code originated. Twin Rivers Loading Company-Sells custom contract loading servicesĪll these companies except X-treme Bullet are located in Lewiston, however it appears that Freedom Munitions is, or was, a Limited Liability Company (LLC) registered in Houston Texas. I know that it's been a long time since the topic was updated, but I wanted to add this information that I found on another forum today because freedom munitions is still using this crap internally stepped case and there are more recent topics concerning kabooms.įound this info out here, and they also have a lot of photographs:įreedom Munitions is a retail outlet for the sale of commercial ammunition.
